#36 The Neighborhood Restorers (RePlacing APEST, 1 of 6)

In Ephesians 4, the Apostle Paul mentions 5 gifts for the church – Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Shepherd, and Teacher (APEST). Over the past decade of missional church and church planting conversations, Alan Hirsch, Mike Breen, J.R. Woodward and others have done some good work towards expanding our understanding of these “Ministries,” “Equippers,” or “Intelligences.” But what do we learn about these gifts when we replace APEST, when we explore what these 5 gifts look like in the neighborhood? In this episode, the first in a six-part series, I explore WHY these 5 categories matter for being and becoming church in the neighborhood, HOW you get these gifts, and WHAT their ultimate purpose is.
